- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
- Layer the potatoes evenly into an 8-inch oven-safe skillet or baking dish.

- Sprinkle with a pinch of ground nutmeg, then top with the shredded Gruyère cheese.
